Reflects me
The ancient vase is the project that most reflects me as an artist. It wasn't really a personal project, but it shows how determined I am as an artist. This vase had a lot of detail work in the painting and never did I use a spin-wheel, I painted each one of the rings on the vase by moving around the vase over and over and over again. This artwork was a project in which we were supposed to recreate an ancient vase and I chose this vase from a picture I found online. The project just expresses that I don't give up when I'm given a project and I give each project my all.
Biggest challenge
The fruit goblet was the most challenging project for me because I really had to remember that I had to have enough area touching to make it be able to stick together. Also, creating all the pinch pots took a lot of patience and time. In order to create this project, I took a lot of time and made myself be patient because everyday of building this project, a fruit fell off or something broke off and it was very stressful. I decided to not connect everything until after the initial fire and then connected it with glaze and let it all be fired together so the glaze would act as a glue. If I could do this project again, I don't think I'd change anything, it turned out looking how I wanted it to look, even though it took longer than expected. When my fruit goblet was completed, I felt a sense of completeness because I spent the most time on this project and was very detailed about it. It was a success.
Helped me improve and grow
As the first ceramics project I had, this project helped me grow and improve the most this year. For this project, I used coils for the whole thing. I did know what coils were before this project only because I was in Mrs. Gravlin's homeroom last year and asked her what one of the finished projects were and she said it was a coil vase. This vase did turn out how I wanted it to, I like the color and the construction overall.
Favorite project
This final was my favorite project because it was the project that I could express myself the most through, I was able to use my imagination to theme my teapot however I wanted to. I didn't really use many techniques I hadn't used before because this was the last project and I had already learned and demonstrated the skills i had learned on other projects. In this project, I used coils for the pot and decorations, a pinch pot for the lid and slabs to create the spout and wheels. i glazed this piece using stroke-n-coats and I chose the colors based on the actual colors of Cinderella's carriage from the movie. When I saw this piece completed, it was the best feeling, I was immensely proud of myself and knew that this would be the project that I would remember from ceramics. This project was a huge success!!!!!
